British Airways is to resume flights to Sri Lanka from March 2013 after a 15-year absence from the Indian Ocean island.
BA will fly from Gatwick to the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, via Male in the Maldives, from March 31, 2013. The carrier had stopped flying to the island in 1998 due to the country’s ethnic conflict which ended in 2009.
The service will run three times per week using a three-cabin Boeing 777 including its Club World business class service, which will have 48 seats, and 24 premium economy seats.
